| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
for the 8th year in a row, the winner of Best Picture at the Academy Awards is playing on our screens, so you still have a chance to see Spotlight. We're also opening a brand new feature on Friday: - The Wave is Norway's first entry into the disaster film genre, and what a great start! Based on actual Norwegian history of rock-slide tsunamis, Roar Uthaug's thoughtful treatment of the nature vs. man question features some of the usual tropes--a scientist that no one believes, families rushing to reunite before the disaster strikes--but adds a depth of character usually missing from stateside adventures. As Bryan VanCampen of the Ithaca Times puts it, "The Wave feels more immediate and intimate, and the humans reacting to the tsunami don’t get flattened in the process."

| While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch Anomalisa and A War soon. They both leave THIS Thursday, March 3rd! |
