| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
It's hard to believe that January is nearly over, but just in time for the announcement of the Academy Award nominations, we have one more new opener on Friday to join our slate of award winning films: - Writer-director Mike Mills (Beginners) takes us back to the late 1970s with the funny and touching period piece 20th Century Women. Fronted by Golden Globe nominee, Annette Bening, the film follows the intertwined lives of three women as they support each other while each doing their part to raise a teenage boy. Loosely based on Mill's own mother, Bening's Dorothea is the heart of what Manohla Dargis of the NY Times calls "a memory movie, one in which people are conjured up to bump against the larger world, exuberantly and uneasily."
Because of the popularity of the current slate of films, you can expect long lines. We advise arriving at the theater 30 minutes prior to showtime.
