The announcement of Oscar nominations are just days away, and for the next week, we're holding over all of our prospective nominees and adding France's official entry into the Foreign Language category: - The debut feature from writer/director Deniz Gamze Ergüve, Mustang celebrates the resilience of a group of Turkish sisters as they struggle against constraints imposed upon them by a strict family. Already on the shortlist for a nomination for Foreign Language Film, it was a smash at Cannes, thanks in large part to its stunning ensemble of young actresses. Nicolas Rapold of the NY Times calls them "a constantly restless and real presence, the perspective filtered mostly through the cheeky Lale but also through the group as a loving crew."
