| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
The Golden Globes are just days away, and all of our current films are up for some of the trophies, including the compelling drama returning to our screens on Friday: - Back by popular demand, Lenny Abrahamson's touching adaptation of Emma Donohue's acclaimed novel, Room returns for a special limited engagement. It won the audience prize at the Toronto International Film Festival and is up for three Golden Globe awards, including Best Drama, but it's the two performances at the heart of the film—by Brie Larson (Short Term 12) and newcomer Jacob Tremblay—that earn the highest praise. According to Sean Means of the Salt Lake Tribune, "As remarkable as Larson and Tremblay are individually, it's the interaction between them that takes Room to its emotional heights. Their depiction of a mother and child... is a joy to experience."

| Also coming up next week, National Theatre Live returns for another year of live theatre on the big screen with the new production of Jane Eyre. Almost 170 years on, Charlotte Brontë’s story of the trailblazing Jane is as inspiring as ever. This bold and dynamic production uncovers one woman’s fight for freedom and fulfilment on her own terms.
This acclaimed re-imagining of Brontë's masterpiece was first staged by Bristol Old Vic last year, when the story was performed over two evenings. Director Sally Cookson now brings her celebrated production to the National, presented as a single, exhilarating performance.
Jane Eyre will screen on Thursday, January 14th at 6:30 pm and again on Saturday, January 16th at 1:30 pm. |
| While you're planning your next week at the movies, get in here to see Steve Jobs soon. It leaves THIS Thursday, January 7th! |
