Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Turkey Day is nearly here, and we have a special EARLY OPENING on Wednesday to celebrate the holiday:- A Best Actor nomination is all but locked for Eddie Redmayne, who depicts famed British physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Redmayne's transformation had critics buzzing even before the film's premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. But it's co-star Felicity Jones (Like Crazy, The Invisible Woman) who in many ways is at the heart of the story. She plays Hawking's first wife, Jane, the woman who--sometimes literally--carried him through the hardest moments of dealing with his illness. Justin Chang of Variety calls it, "a stirring and bittersweet love story, inflected with tasteful good humor, that can’t help but recall earlier disability dramas like “My Left Foot” and “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.”
As sort of a celebration of the completion of my first full year here at Cinemapolis, I decided to put together our first annual "Report to the Community." It features an overview of the changes, both big and small, that have occurred in the past 12 months. It also recognizes all the devoted members that continue to make it all possible. You're at the top of my list of things to be thankful for this holiday! Feel free to pick up a copy of the report in the lobby or download it here.
The schedule below is EXTRA long to accommodate our Wednesday opener and it includes SPECIAL THANKSGIVING SHOWTIMES, so read it with care! While you're at it, if you haven't yet seen the smash hit Dear White People, get in here soon! The last screening is on Tuesday night.
See you at the movies! |
