Greetings, Cinemapolitans,

After 65 weeks of darkness, we re-opened the cinema for public film screenings in June. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to keep our staff employed throughout the pandemic and are in a great position to serve our audiences. We continue to make modifications to the cinema to ensure the safest possible movie-going experience for patrons and staff alike. Your support has made these changes possible.

Cinemapolis values its role as one of Ithaca’s certified living wage employers. During our temporary COVID closure, all Cinemapolis employees, including hourly staff whose schedules have been impacted, continued to receive full pay.

What HAS NOT changed is our mission: Encouraging central New York residents to explore the power of film to entertain, to educate, and to celebrate the human experience.

With the doors open once again, Cinemapolitans like you have flocked to our theaters to take in a bounty of award-winning festival favorites like CODA, Titane, Summer of Soul, Belfast, The French Dispatch, and more! Local filmmakers have joined us to share their compelling new stories, and vital special programs like National Theatre Live have resumed with regularly scheduled events.

Movie-going is once again a highlight of downtown Ithaca, so now, more than ever, your support is needed. Making a tax-deductible contribution today will guarantee a future where we can continue to celebrate the art of film, to enrich people’s lives, to grapple with and illuminate contemporary issues, and, of course, to entertain.
