Subject: Upcoming TSK class, Making Space 🌅

Whatever we discover in the world around us, it is because space has made it available

Making Space

Exploring the Time, Space and Knowledge Vision
with Morgan Wells

Saturdays 10am - 11:30am PST from October 26 - November 16, 2024

Whatever we make of our lives, whatever we discover in the world around us, it is because space has made it available.

Tarthang Tulku, Sacred Dimensions of Time & Space

We often approach space as if it’s a limited resource. We stake out an area that belongs to us and occupy it, drawing lines or building fences to make sure others will stay out. But is there another way to make space for ourselves and others? This class will offer alternative perspectives on how we might live in space. Drawing inspiration from different TSK books, we will question our underlying assumptions and explore new possibilities, centering openness, connection and accommodation as themes for exploration.

CCI at the 2024 Bay Area Queer Zine Fest

Reflections

The Center for Creative Inquiry had the beautiful opportunity to be part of the 2024 Bay Area Queer Zine Fest (BAQZF). The festival happens once a year in the Bay Area, California. In the tradition of creating safe spaces for marginalized voices, the BAQZF shows the power of DIY publishing.

After a long silence imposed by the pandemic starting in 2020, we returned to BAQZF bringing with us In Visible Mind. This zine was specially printed using the risograph technique that makes delicious colors come alive. The zine is a collaborative creation with Amira-Sade Moodie who both directed it and made it possible for the project to have its fully evocative language. The practices within are rooted in Jack Petranker’s Full Presence Mindfulness and are inspired by the Time, Space and Knowledge Vision of Tarthang Tulku. Luckily, we were able to sell out at this year’s fest, confirming the hunger for work that marries contemplative practice with artistic expression.

Our table also featured two of our latest publications: the Full Presence Mindfulness Pocket Guide and Nowhere. Both of them also had a warm reception and we sold many copies. The feedback we received from readers— their stories and their resonance with our work– reminds us that in a world saturated with information people appreciate publications that inspire the healing process in creative and secular ways.

Encouraged by the community’s embrace of our work, we carry with us the knowledge that every zine, every illustration, every mindfulness practice we share, contributes to keeping our vision alive and fosters a connection with those who resonate with our journey.

The Center for Creative Inquiry (CCI) explores alternate forms of knowledge and inquiry and their potential to bring about fundamental change at the individual, cultural, and social level.

CCI headquarters is located at the Mangalam Center in downtown Berkeley, California, USA.
