Cycle September, retrofit workshops and more... 🚴‍♀️

Hi Friend,

We've been cycling hard this month in the spirit of friendly competition with People Powered Retrofit - and whilst they might have just come out on top, together we are performing very strongly in Greater Manchester.

Some of our cycling has taken us to various parts of North Manchester where we have knocked on hundreds of residents doors as part of our Project Heat pump, working with social housing tenants with heat pumps. The project continues to gather information and data about householder experiences.

Other team members have been cycling out to provide workshops and outreach events as part of the Energise Manchester project primarily in the southern regions of Greater Manchester, in the next month there will be further workshops coming up, so keep an eye out and sign up!

All in all, as we enter the colder and wetter months, we plan to keep up our outreach, events, and using bicycles as a low carbon transport method to reach them where possible!

First Beginners Guide to Retrofit Event

We were excited to host our first Beginner's Guide to Retrofit workshop of the season. We have similar events such as Tackle Damp and Mould Parts 1 and 2 and the Green Open Homes Visit taking place in the near future at various different locations across Manchester.

Don't want to miss out? Make sure to take a look at our events schedule and register now.

OCTOBER: EcoHome Lab - UCL research on neighbourhood-scale batteries

Carbon Co-op has been working with researchers at University College London (UCL) on a project on shared neighbourhood batteries.

Many members and supporters have recently come together to take part in workshops using specially designed shared battery game created to help participants think about whether and how shared batteries might be made to work effectively for them.

In this a special in person Ecohome Lab meetup taking place on October 10th at our offices in Ancoats, Georgia Panagiotidou and Mike Fell from UCL will talk about what the work involved, share early findings, and listen to your feedback.

Cycle September Success 🚴‍♀️

Carbon Co-op and People Powered Retrofit have been competing this September as part of Love To Ride's Cycle September, where staff members have been logging their cycle rides across the month. Both organisations have racked up a fantastic number of miles and have ranked highly in our categories. People Powered Retrofit ranked 2nd for organisations of our size in Greater Manchester, and Carbon Co-op have ranked 3rd in the same category. Nationally, People Powered Retrofit have ranked 3rd for non-profits of our size, and Carbon Co-op have ranked 4th. A great effort for all the team, and we will beat People Powered Retrofit in 2025. 😉
