The study is exploring how households might work to share a battery, to help minimise costs and maximise the positive environmental impact. Much of our response to climate change has involved calling on people and households to change their personal behaviour. The potential for more collective solutions remains under-explored and poorly understood. We are interested in investigating the impacts of shared batteries within small-scale energy communities.
To do so, we are looking for participants who have a working smart meter, compatible with our PowerShaper Monitor system which allows you to access your smart meter data through our dashboard, and who are willing to join a workshop in Greater Manchester where we simulate a shared battery, using predicted potential solar generation to explore different possibilities for how such a battery might be used and impact on your energy consumption.
Eligible participants who are not yet PowerShaper Monitor users will be given a free PowerShaper Monitor subscription, allowing them to access their smart meter, and carbon consumption data directly through our dashboard.
Participants will also be given £50 for their time. Selection for the study will take place on a rolling basis, based on eligibility. |
