Catch and Release Fishing
Based on an independent evaluation of our lake, it has been recommended that we change our fishing policy to improve the heath, size, and quality of our fish. Moving forward, you are welcome to keep any fish 12 inches or less, but please release any fish of greater length.
Tower Usage
ALERT has created a new Tower Usage Form for anyone interested in using the tower for any event or personal function. All requests should go through this form from now on.
Battalion Update | Capt. Vanderford
We are one week in and the fall quarter is off to a great start! Thank you to all who came to the Dining room and gym on Friday night. I value opportunities for the Battalion to interact with staff and would love to make Friday nights together a regular activity. Also of note last week, the Aquatics unit went to FriendShips in Louisiana to dive in the harbor and the men enjoyed many unique experiences there. This week is scheduled to be a fairly normal class week, but plans are shaping up to send the Battalion on hurricane relief deployment in Florida at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
Expectations for Corporal Promotion | Update
As mentioned at the summer quarter's Awards & Promotions ceremony, ALERT has made some adjustments to the expectations for the rank of corporal. The first notable change is that Corporal applicants will now need a mentor who will work with them through the Corporal project and mentor them as they develop their leadership skills in preparation for the rank of Corporal. Second, we will seek more input from a prospective Corporal's peers and anyone under him on how he handles himself with the other enlisted ranks.
Basic Training Update | Capt. Hawley
Four days left till recruits arrive! The Cadre has been training hard and actively preparing for the arrival of the men for Unit 69. This Thursday, the new Unit will begin its journey to becoming ALERT Responders: They will spend three full days in In-Processing, preparing them for Basic Training, and then integrate into Basic Training on R-Night, Monday, September 11 at 6:30 PM. Please pray for us as we continue to prepare for this adventure.
