In our leadership journey, it's often easy to look behind us and idolize "the glory days" both in our work and our relationship with Christ.

| Battalion Update | Capt. Vanderford
The next few weeks will be busy for the battalion. I arrived last night with Tech Rescue and CST at the Northwoods for a service project . This Saturday, August 21, Leadership and Communications will leave for their field trip to Washington D.C. 2nd Phase will head to Detroit for flood relief on Sunday, August 22 in response to last month's natural disaster, and after that, will go to Chicago for 4 days of chainsaw training/service.
The Caleb Nelson Memorial Race is scheduled for Saturday, September 5. This is a 12 mile, multi-sport endurance race named in honor of an ALERT graduate and Navy SEAL who died in action in 2011.
Thank you for your prayers. Training seems to be going well and, overall, the battalion is growing and headed in a good direction.
