Leadership Corner: Challenge to Lead
At every stage of life, we are all challenged to lead when we’re not really in charge. Most of us are not "fully" in charge of anything. At the end of the day, leadership, when you are not in charge, comes down to influence and persuasion.

Have The Courage To Act | When utilized well, having the courage to take the initiative is often rewarded with respect. Most people are afraid of leading without authority, so when they see it done well, most often they admire it.

Keep The Work At The Center | The harder the problem you’re trying to solve, the more people may want to distract themselves from the work at hand. By keeping the work at the center, you encourage people to confront the problem, rather than get sucked into gossip and other distractions.

Be Values-Driven and Be Obvious About It | It’s really hard to argue with someone who is driven by a just and clearly communicated set of values. If you help your colleagues see that your interest in exercising leadership is driven by values, and not by self-interest, it is very hard to say no.

Basic Training: Week Five
The men of Unit 64 will spend the week living and training across the lake. They will be living in handmade shelters and catching and cooking their own food along with taking classes in primitive Fire Building and Water Purification. They will continue to own their skills of land navigation, search and recovery, ropes and knots, and wilderness care and survival as they participate in Nav-Meds through the week. Please pray the men would stay healthy during this time and that they would learn a valuable lesson in perspective.
