Battalion Update
Intermediate Training continues into the second week of their SCUBA course, which focuses on Special Response Diver Training. They are scheduled to return Sunday, Feb 27. L&C returned safely from Washington D.C. yesterday evening. They had a great time visiting many monuments and museums and learning about the philosophies on which our nation was founded, and the leaders who fought for them. The flight students continue to prepare for their check-rides both in the classroom and in the air. Rejoice with us and thank God for His work in saving one of the young men in Intermediate Training! Please pray for God’s continued work in the lives of the men through the last three weeks of the quarter, and for God to give wisdom and endurance to the battalion leadership.
Leadership Corner | Maj. Boulden
As Leaders we find ourselves doing hours of talking, teaching, texting, emailing, and communicating. People come to us looking for answers, asking our opinions, and seeking our insight. These are all good things, but let's take a moment and remember that leaders first must listen, learn, and then lead.

1. Hearing vs. Listening
Recognize the difference: Hearing is a function of the ears. Listening is a function of the will.

2. Faulty Communications
Ultimately, poor listening leads to hostility, miscommunication, and a breakdown of team cohesion.

3. Gains from Listening
When you listen, you gain something more precious than the privilege to speak. You gain insight into people and you earn your right to speak.

4. Touching a Heart
We don’t lose intimacy when we stop talking. But, we do indeed forfeit intimacy when we stop listening.

5. Two Ears and One Mouth
We have two ears and one mouth, and we should use them in that proportion.
