"We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." 2 Cor. 4:7, NLT

FYI—this is one of our "staff meals" and is complimentary to our staff/families. If you would like to join us for dinner but are not a part of the Valentines Banquet or Childcare, please RSVP through the link below. Dinner will be served at 6:15 PM in the Dining Room.
Prayer & Fasting
This Wednesday, February 21 will be our ministry wide day of prayer and fasting. Please join with us by inquiring of the Lord for various needs and people that will have an eternal impact.

"Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them." Ezekiel 36:37

Prayer is the forerunner of mercy. Turn to sacred history, and you will find that scarcely ever did a great mercy come to this world unheralded by supplication. You have found this true in your own personal experience. God has given you many an unsolicited favour, but still great prayer has always been the prelude of great mercy with you. When you first found peace through the blood of the cross, you had been praying much, and earnestly interceding with God that he would remove your doubts, and deliver you from your distresses. Your assurance was the result of prayer.

When at any time you have had high and rapturous joys, you have been obliged to look upon them as answers to your prayers. When you have had great deliverances out of sore troubles, and mighty helps in great dangers, you have been able to say, "I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Prayer is always the preface to blessing. It goes before the blessing as the blessing's shadow. When the sunlight of God's mercies rises upon our necessities, it casts the shadow of prayer far down upon the plain.

Or, to use another illustration, when God piles up a hill of mercies, he himself shines behind them, and he casts on our spirits the shadow of prayer, so that we may rest certain, if we are much in prayer, our pleadings are the shadows of mercy. Prayer is thus connected with the blessing to show us the value of it. If we had the blessings without asking for them, we should think them common things; but prayer makes our mercies more precious than diamonds. The things we ask for are precious, but we do not realize their preciousness until we have sought for them earnestly.

"Prayer makes the darken'd cloud withdraw; Prayer climbs the ladder Jacob saw;
Gives exercise to faith and love; Brings every blessing from above."

Kitchen Schedule
The Kitchen reopens Monday, February 26, with lunch. Please sign up for any dinner meals Feb. 26–March 1 (by the day before). If we don't have enough sign-ups, we may not serve dinner meals that week. Thank you for your flexibility as we work with ALERT's training/deployment schedule!
Recommended Message | Jeff Bedford
The Publications Department often listens to portions of messages while we fill orders in the morning. I was recently blessed as I listened to an amazing message by Jim Schettler entitled Powerful Lessons From the Life of Ahithophel. I believe everyone in our organization would be blessed by hearing this. If you don't have an embassy account, please contact Mary at mbedford@iblp.org.
Conqueror Weekend
Col. Behr will be hosting another Conqueror Weekend, March 8–10. Any campus guys are welcome (or if you have friends interested in joining you as well). Please reach out to Col. Behr for more details or to sign up.
Staff Dorm Cleaning
Operations is facing significant staffing transitions in both our Housekeeping and Janitorial Departments. If anyone is interested/available to help us tackle another Staff Dorm Cleaning, Wednesday, March 6, that would be great! We will meet at Dogwood at 8:30 AM. Please reach out to Mrs. Weiss for your preferred cleaning assignment. This would be paid time for any available employees. Coffee and treats will be provided—hope you can join us!
Trash Pick Up
In an effort to invest in our community as well as honor our responsibilities to the Adopt-a-Highway program, everyone is invited to participate in a trash pick up on Highway 80. This volunteer event will be from 2–4 PM on Saturday, March 16. If you're available, please contact Nate Paine at ext. 2157. Hope you can join us!
Battalion Update | Capt. Vanderford
2nd Phase’s dive training and deployment last week went well. First Platoon received training for Open Water and Advanced Open Water SCUBA certifications while Second Platoon served at Lake Swan Camp in Melrose, FL, on projects such as brush clearing, fence painting, wood splitting, and handyman work. First and Second Platoons will switch places this week and essentially repeat what happened last week. L&C traveled to Washington D.C. on Saturday and Sunday and will be touring various historic sites and monuments throughout this week.
