Thank You
Thank you for all your work this past week. Thanks to your help and support (and God's grace!), Family Camp was a smashing success. So many families expressed their gratitude for all your diligent work. You served with excellence and we are so grateful!

PROS AND CONS: When you get a moment, we'd love to know how Family Camp went from your perspective. Please reply to this email with your thoughts and we'll add them into our debrief notes. Thanks for sharing!

Blood Drive
As previously announced, Carter BloodCare will be coming back to campus on Saturday, October 24 for a drive from 7 am to 12 noon. Sign up online or stop by the registration desk in the Dining Room sometime this week.
Leadership Corner | Maj. Boulden
As we hit the halfway point in the semester this week it's easy to go into autopilot. Easy to lag behind and just "make it to the end." Let's remember that in these moments of weariness and monotony are the moments where leadership really counts. It's where leadership is actually made. The movies have taught us that when the music swells and the chips are down, that’s when leaders arrive and when heroes are made. It turns out, that’s not how it works. Our work is what happens in all the moments. Leadership doesn’t simply appear when the script announces it does: it is the hard work of showing up when we’re not expected to, of seeing what’s possible when few are willing to believe. Your defining moment is whenever you decide it is, and you get a new chance to lead every day. Keep up the good work gang! Hold the Line! "Forge On!"
Basic Training Update | Maj. Boulden
Another week down and another week closer to Advancement Day! This coming week of training will consist of basic medical skills training, Search and Rescue training, teamwork evolutions, and more rope skills training. The Unit will also be participating in their 12-Hour hike on Friday. This week the Unit will also be removed from POGIE lockdown so if you were thinking of sending the men extra food, now is the time to do so! Continue to keep the Unit in your prayers as they progress to harder and harder events.

Lt. O'Neal will be gone for the next week, so please direct your Basic Training questions to me during this time. Thank you again for your continued prayers and support for the men in training.
Battalion Update | Capt. Vanderford
CST, Lincoln Clark, and Sergeant Major worked in many different areas to support Family Camp this past week while the men in Fire Academy continued with classes and assisted with family camp by manning the guard shack and helping out with dishes. This weekend, Unit 6 Alumnus Nate Williams will be here to encourage and challenge the battalion and Basic Training. Please pray for the men that as this quarter continues, they will stay focused on what’s important and will continue to pursue growth.
