Current Events
Gym Closed
The Field House Gym will be closed this week as we host NCFCA. Staff and Battalion are welcome to use the Sports Complex instead.
Missing Dog
Jonathan Bassett had a golden retriever get away from him on Sunday morning. The dog is new to the area, is very tame and friendly, and answers to the name Buck. If you see him or are able to catch him, please contact Jonathan as soon as possible at 903-439-8015.
Note to the Staff | Dr. Levendusky
I am thankful that many of you have worked diligently to prepare for the NCFCA group coming on campus this week. From all that I understand, the buildings, dormitories, and food services are prepared to welcome the large group of people coming here.

Let me take this opportunity to encourage you to prayerfully consider judging for an event for these young people competing. Your continuous work behind the scenes is very appreciated, and I want to invite you to join me and others who will serve as a judge for their debates or speeches. You would not be a lone judge, but your scores are combined with two other judges who listen with you to evaluate the student’s presentations. It does not take much time, and you do not need any prior experience to help these families.

I judged last year and will do it again for this year’s competition as well. Initially, I was not looking forward to the experience, but found their organization, short training preparation, and gratefulness minimized any concerns that I had going into it.

Whether you judge or not, I want to thank you for the way that you help us to host such an event, and to help these young people and their families in preparation for a lifetime of service and ministry.

NCFCA Judge Opportunity
As we look forward to welcoming NCFCA to our campus next week, we would like to support them with as many judges as possible. This will be paid time for ministry employees who are able to judge during the normal work day. Please sign up online or contact Lisa Hetrick (BigSandyJudges@NCFCA.org or call/text 214-952-2314) with further questions.
Col. Bell Funeral
Col. Mike Bell's Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Denton, Friday, January 24 at 1 PM. If you are interested in attending, please contact Mr. Allison by Wednesday.
Baby Shower

ALERT Cadet Update
There was a good meeting with the leadership for the ALERT Cadet program this past week in Dallas, and several important items were discussed and determined. These include:

1. Family Conferences will still have ALERT Cadet Challenges (ACC) for boys, but in order to help the Cadet leadership focus on father and son activities in the year-round program, they will not have direct oversight of the ACCs. This will be handled by John Ferraro who will supervise all of the ACC’s during Family Conferences in 2020.

2. ALERT Cadet will move under the IBLP ministry oversight as a separate department. Although not directly under the ALERT leadership, ALERT Cadet will continue to work with ALERT as they have in the past, supporting each other and the common goals for each program.

3. To help enable a greater focus on key areas of the ministry, Alert Cadet has appointed Cadet Major Doug Dagarin as Executive Officer overseeing the administrative functions of the ministry. Major Dagarin will oversee Donna Warner, Administrator, and he will be the point of contact for all administrative functions to include finances, camps, retail, etc.

4. Cadet Lt. Col. Kevin Edwards will remain as Commanding Officer/Director of Alert Cadet responsible for promoting the vision, giving overall direction, and overseeing Cadet Leadership.

Please pray for the ALERT Cadet ministry to involve and encourage many more fathers, sons, and families as they minister with staff and volunteers from ALERT, IBLP, and many others within this unique program in 2020.

Battalion Update
In addition to regular classes last week, CST deployed to Northwest Mississippi and the rest of the battalion assisted with a ground search for a missing man near Alto, TX. This week, 2nd phase will be studying apologetics and fire fighting while preparing for their dive trip this Saturday. Leadership will have several guest instructors this week along with their normal classes, and CST will be very busy during the NCFCA event. Please keep praying for God to work in each of our hearts to make us more like Christ.
Leadership Corner | Maj. Boulden
Forging is not just about the men under us but about the people beside us. The healthier the team the healthier the student body. As leaders, we should ensure we're doing all we can to advocate for the people we oversee. 1) Celebrate the Individual — encourage growth and unique differences 2) Set your Employees Free — give your employees control over what they were hired to do 3) Engage the Back Office — greater collaboration between front and back office teams.
