Twas the week before Christmas and all throughout Camp

the chipmunks were scurrying and we needed a lamp

to see the ball field on a starry winter night

while Bob and his children got ready for dawn's light.

Counselor apps were coming in

Reunions draws near

Chapel visits on the schedule

the cry came, "oh dear!

There's so much to do

Registration opens soon!"

But calm came anew

Bob turns to his youngest and says, "Come near,

Let me tell you the reason we have Christmas cheer.

It's not just the counselors, the YSLs, the volunteers

It's not just the staff, or memories we make

It's not just the pool, the trees, or the lake

It's not just the smiles, the laughter, or a firm handshake.

You see, what we have is something much more

Than songs by the campfire or eating a s'more.

For all the people that visit each year

Leave knowing why we celebrate this Christmas cheer.

Jesus Christ our Savior, was born on Christmas day

to save us from our sins.

Hip, hip, hooray!"

And so with a smile in the early dawn light

Bob and his children had a great snowball fight.
