But we also know, God has set this time apart to pause: for vision… for provision… for re-vision. After having to cancel March, April, and May retreat events, turn away thousands of youth from summer residential and day camps, and now deal with the reality of a nearly empty camp this fall, the harsh reality of our financial situation has revealed itself.
By the end of August, your camp had a budget deficit of over $300,000 of where we’d normally be this time of year. We have less than $6,500 program and retreat income on the books for the rest of 2020. Last year, this would have been over $70,000. We’re anticipating that trend to continue at least to the first half of 2021.
| The ultimate and oft-hard purpose is to faithfully steer Camp Omega through good times and bad. Our legacy is ensuring campers of every age hear about God’s love through Jesus Christ—for generations of campers to come. | The Camp Omega team is confident... Camp has value and what Camp has to offer is even more valuable after this pandemic. This pause to reevaluate will lead to a more impactful camp ministry going forward. Camp Omega will play a vital role in the faith lives of kids, families, and adults through COVID-19 and beyond. That Camp Omega will continue to offer quality camps, programs, and retreats for youth, families, and groups of all kinds. That we will not lose sight of the Family and Adult Retreat Center plans that were set in motion some time ago. That Camp Omega’s greatest assets—the magnificent site, the marvelous facilities, the dedicated leadership, YOU—will remain on the other side of COVID-19. It’s our relationship of trust in God—and God through you—that strengthens us through the months ahead.
| Camp Omega cannot go this alone. You all have a reason why you’ve partnered with us through these past years of growth. And we cannot say this more from our hearts: we need you now—and in the months and months and months ahead—more than ever. And we need your treasure. True, with camper and retreat income at a thirty-year low, your generous provision will carry your camp through to the other side of coronavirus. Please consider a gift of any size today by mail, from your mobile device, or online. | | We need your time—time sharing our story with your friends and neighbors; time volunteering on different projects on and off-site; time coming to camp with your family, church, or community groups; time getting involved in innumerable ways; and time in prayer. And please, really, pray for all the Camp Omega Leadership Team, for the Board of Directors, for hard decisions in the months ahead, for God’s generous vision, provision, and new vision. Thank you for your faith-filled services in all the ways He is leading you. |
