Subject: [Sonoma Retreat] Kincaid Fire Update, Wine Tasting, and a Phone Call

Updates and Announcements
Greetings Friend,

If you've been tuned into current events in the news, you've heard that the Kincaid Fire is located in Sonoma County, and may be tracking how the fire is progressing.  I’ve also been tracking the fire and have been in touch with the camp director, Tymm.

Here are my notes about current conditions:  The fire is over 50 miles away and the ranch is well outside of the current evacuation zone.  The groups staying there this past week have been able to continue with their planned activities.  The main impact has been due to their location in a high-wind area, and they have been part of the power outages.

With the power outage, the ranch has running water, lights in all the cabins, and meals and are in full service.  The only thing with power outages is that there is limited hot water, which is only available in a few cabin rooms, so folks with hot water have set up a schedule to share their bathrooms so other people can have access to hot showers.  Power outages have lasted 4-36 hours, and we have made due with our slightly more rustic conditions.

Power should be back up by Monday, barring any other weather issues.  Air quality has been moderate to good because the wind has been clearing the air.  The reality is that the fire is over 50 miles away, and the power outages are much more widespread than the actual reach of the fire.

I will continue to update you about weather and fire conditions as we get closer to our weekend together.  I'm optimistic that we will still be able to unwind and enjoy our workshops, private concert, and wine tasting.

Wait, wine tasting? That's right! I've invited Martin, owner and manager of Beaver Creek Winery to pour 4 wines for us and give us a little talk on Saturday night after dinner.  Their winery is biodynamic, organic, and very local, in Middletown, CA, just over the mountain from the ranch. This is included in the weekend, my gift to you!

Watch your phone.  Also, it's my tradition to call everyone before my events to ask you what you most want to learn from the weekend so I can tailor my content and to answer any questions you may have.  Please save my number in your phone: (510) 459-0926 and if you can't pick up, do call me or text me back to let me know a good time to reach you.  Looking forward to our chat!

Love, Vanessa
