At the start of my career in early 2000, I used to feel that digital innovation and disruption were theoretical concepts meant for research and whitepapers. We were not actively working in these areas. As a result, it was never expected to learn or build expertise in this area.
Then came WhatsApp (2009) and Uber (2010), and my mindset shifted. I started to realise that digital transformation is not a distant future but our present.
However, for me, this was still something done by cutting edge start-ups and entrepreneurs. I had a belief that as a digital expert, I just need to know a little bit about the disruptive technology, but I am still not a part of this evolution.
Then came 2013, the year we started our product management consulting start-up in the U.K.
Our high-valued B2B and B2C clients (circa £50-£100 million in revenue) wanted us to help in the areas of digital innovation, disruption and transformation.
We had to not only understand and adapt but also deliver these strategic projects for our clients.
That hands-on learning and implementation for the past 7 years have propelled us to become Digital Transformation Experts for B2B, B2C, Government, Marketplace, SaaS products.
As we deliver these projects, we hired digital professionals, and that's when we had a first-hand experience that digital innovation, disruption and transformation is no more a ‘nice to have’ hiring requirement.
Again, we are not talking about the distant future, instead, we foresee that in the next 2-3 years, a solid understanding of these concepts will be a mandatory hiring criterion.
Now, the question is: are you paying attention to & preparing for this hiring need?
In our APPLY session this week, we will cover these concepts and share how ‘Digital Economy’ is no more a thing of future but our everyday reality.
