August 19^th should make us stop and think about the power of flight.

Yet, some scientific and technological marvels become so commonplace that we seldom take the time to re-examine their revolutionary impact with an open and inquisitive mind. In just a handful of generations, aviation went from pure, pie-in-the-sky speculation to a mundane reality that inspires about as much wonder as a trip aboard a Greyhound bus.

While the Willamette Valley is roughly the same latitude as Northern Italy, there are many regional differences that make the weather

very different.

Most of us think of Oregon as very wet and rainy, and we would be right if it were the winter months. During the summer months while grapes are ripening the Willamette Valley receives only around 2.5 inches of rain versus 10.5 inches in northern Italy. This, combined with the fact that Oregon is on average 3-5 degrees warmer during the summer, creates riper grapes whose flavor translates differently than Italian Pinot Grigio.
