Chemical recycling: the ugly truth

 

So-called “chemical recycling” is largely turning plastic into fuel that gets burned, which is bad for the climate and can impact our health. A new report by the Global Alliance Against Incinerators (GAIA) US/Canada exposes chemical recycling as an expensive, ineffective techno-fix while the petrochemical industry keeps polluting our air, water, and soil by continuing to produce new plastic.

Greeners Action encourage Hong Kong government to stem the tide of plastics during COVID-19

 

As Hong Kong’s cleaners  deal with an explosion of plastic trash, #breakfreefromplastic changemaker Angus Ho Hon-wai of Greeners Action urges government action to reduce plastic waste.


In an interview with South China Morning Post, he said:“...virus prevention is important, but when the government comes up with a policy [like this], it should also encourage or educate people by telling them to bring their own containers."
