A deep dive session on the impacts of
COVID-19 on single-use plastics
On April 22 (Earth Day), Heinrich Boell Foundation Hong Kong Office, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) Japan, and #BreakFreeFromPlastic (BFFP) Asia Pacific are launching Plastic Atlas Asia, a joint publication that has the hard facts, data, and figures to show the real narrative on the state of plastic pollution in Asia.
In 20 chapters, the Plastic Atlas Asia Edition deals with very different aspects of plastic, illustrated by infographics. For this Asian edition, we have also included a full chapter on “COVID-19 and Plastic” which shows the current impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the hard-fought gains made on single-use plastics over the years and reveals the plan of the oil and gas industry to ramp up plastic production in the next few years.
Together with Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) Asia Pacific and Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) in Bangladesh, we would like to invite you for a deeper dive into the “plastic pandemic” through a virtual media briefing on April 22, 2021 at 2:00 - 3:00 PM (GMT+8).
In this webinar, we will look at how COVID-19 continues to impact single-use plastics production and consumption and the solutions that are happening in the region.
