| It’s no surprise that single-use plastics (SUP) are a major source of pollution in Southeast Asia and one of the biggest hurdles towards achieving Zero Waste. #breakfreefromplastic members in the Philippines are actively working for a legislation that will enforce a comprehensive national SUP ban.
“A comprehensive national ban on single-use plastic will not only ‘clean up’ the plastic problem, but will ensure that no more harmful disposable plastic will pollute our cities, beaches, and mountains, kill wildlife and marine life, and threaten our health,” said Aileen Lucero, National Coordinator of Ecowaste Coalition.

| | Green groups issue a call to action on chemicals on food packaging
Scientists from around the world are sounding the alarm about the risks that food packaging poses to the health of children and families. Single-use packaging isn’t just a pollution crisis, it’s a public health crisis, too.
In response, groups led by the Unwrapped Project (UPSTREAM, Zero Waste Europe and GAIA) issued a Call to Action demanding regulators and industry to protect public health and the environment.
