That means a full life cycle approach, from the extraction of feedstocks and production to transport, use, disposal, and remediation. The transition to a future free from plastic pollution should allow us to hold accountable those most responsible, while engaging and amplifying the voices of those most impacted.

A press briefing held on November 3 brought together experts from civil society organisations in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines to voice their concerns about the global plastic waste trade, its impacts on the environment, health, and communities, and why addressing it needs to be a priority during the global plastic treaty negotiations.
