Greenpeace calls on the UK Prime Minister to ban plastic exports


Last week, Greenpeace UK activists dumped 625kg of household recycling outside 10 Downing Street — the same amount that the UK sends overseas every 30 seconds!

By delivering this to the Prime Minister's doorstep, the message to the UK government is clear: Stop exporting plastic waste, and take action to fix the plastic pollution crisis!

Happy Latinx Conservation Week! #breakfreefromplastic changemakers representing GAIA, Fenceline Watch, and movement allies co-hosted a virtual event to highlight how zero waste lifestyles and conservation efforts are ingrained and embedded in Latinx culture.


The celebration explored themes like reclaiming zero waste (honoring and amplifying Latinx cultural practices) and policy solutions like the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act.

Maine’s New Law will Make Plastic Producers Pay

The State of Maine in the U.S. has implemented a new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law that will require manufacturers, rather than taxpayers, to cover the cost of recycling plastic packaging and waste.

“Never before in the U.S. have producers of packaging truly been held responsible for the waste they create. Even though disposable products are cheap for industry, they’re costly to the rest of us,” says Alex Truelove, U.S. PIRG Zero Waste Campaign Director.
