Subject: 🔥 So I Fired A Customer The Other Day... 🔥

Yup, it happens.

It's pretty rare, but it does happen.

I ran into a similar back when I used to work in a fabrication shop.

I remember the boss had been dealing with a certain customer and his project, and the hours spent on the project kept adding up.

The final bill was going to be pretty high, so I asked the boss if he had quoted the job. 🤨

He said it was an hourly job, and that the price was the customer's problem.

I didn't think too much about it after that.

But then it came time to give the customer the bill.

Which the boss always did.

Suddenly, my boss tallied up the bill, told me to give it to the customer, and then ran off. 🏃‍♂️

I was a little stunned, but gave the customer the bill.

Can you guess what happened next?

Yup, that's right.

The customer absolutely LOST IT on me when I gave him the bill. 🤮

I remember telling him that I was just the messenger, and that my boss had told me to give him the bill.

Unfazed, he launched into an expletive-riddled tirade, before demanding to speak to the boss. 🤬

So I went to find him.

But I couldn't.

I asked everyone, and nobody had seen him.

I searched all of the normal places he would be, but he was nowhere to be found.

Then I happened to go look in our back supply room.

Bingo.

I found him literally hiding in the forgotten, never-used supply room in the back of the shop. 👎

When he saw me coming, he grabbed his cell phone and pretended to be on a call.

After I told him about the customer and how he'd taken my head off, he told me that I had to go back and tell the guy he had to pay.

So, I went back to the customer and told him the boss said he had to pay.

The customer's face turned 7 shades of red as he ripped into me again. 🤬

I ended up having to go and find the boss again.

Reluctantly, he came to deal with the customer and project he had been in charge of.

But rather than backing me up, he threw me under the bus. 🚌

He sided with the customer, agreed the bill was too high, and said that "someone" must have made a mistake.

He gave the customer a huge discount, and looked like a hero.

And I was seen as the bad guy.

After the customer left, he said that it was worth it to take a loss on this job, because the customer might come back in the future.

That was the last time I ever saw that particular customer.

But I couldn't believe how he threw me under the bus, and didn't support me by telling the abusive customer that his behavior was not acceptable.

Right then and there, I made a commitment to myself that if I ever had my own company, I would support my employees.

Even if it meant losing a customer.

And the other day, I fired a customer for this exact reason. 🔥

I did it to support an employee, Yes.

But I also did it because, at the end of the day, what we offer inside The Empirical Collective is valuable.

Both to our existing members and future ones.

Which is why we have a ZERO tolerance policy when we find someone transgressing the rules.

(You can find a copy of the rules here --> http://theempiricalcollective.com/excommunicado/)

So what happened?

Turns out the "now fired" customer was insulting one of our support staff.

And our support staff is some of the best and nicest around.

Unflinchingly loyal, they work tirelessly to help our members.

From posting trade alerts, to tech support, they're the glue that holds everything together.

So when it came to my attention that a customer was mistreating one of them, I immediately let the customer know his membership was cancelled.

That was it.

Excommunicado, amigo.

And, right on cue, this guy sent me some sob email about how it wasn't really all his fault and that he was sorry.

He hasn't - and never will - get a reply.

He can go cry to someone else about it.

He's been thrown out and he can gnash his teeth all he wants.

Our efforts are put towards the people we value - the members inside The Empirical Collective.

We do not waste time or effort on trying to work with, or appease abusive bullies. ☠️

That ray of sunshine aside, if you're a good person, and would like to join us on the inside, you can do so here:
