Dear Jan:
I trust that this message finds you well. It has been some time - too long - since I last corresponded with you. I recently completed a graduate degree from UBC in 2022 and have, since then, been at work again putting things at Bohart into motion. In fact, Kris and I are working to present our first jazz concert together in almost 30 years.
The Historic Theatre at The Cultch in Vancouver will be swinging at 8:00 PM on 24 April 2024 with Bohart's presentation of Beyond Category: The Music of Duke Ellington featuring the Vancouver Jazz Orchestra with Special Guests. As a small gesture of my big thanks to you for your longstanding support as one of the first 100 contributors to Bohart, I have arranged for a 20% discount on the purchase of up to two tickets for the concert.
Please visit The Cultch here. Pick your seats and then, when you check out, please enter the discount code Bohart100 in the promotion code field and click apply. Please note that the prices listed include the service charges and fees.
Beyond Category is something of a musical celebration of Duke Ellington's 125th birthday this year. The concert will feature a selection of Ellington's music ranging from his earliest work to rarely performed later works from the 1960s and 1970s. Led by clarinetist and saxophonist James Danderfer, the Vancouver Jazz Orchestra will perform a range of Ellington's feature Sharon Minemoto on piano with special guest appearances by the incredible Vancouver vocalist Dawn Pemberton, Andy Hunter, trombonist with the acclaimed WDR Big Band from Cologne, Germany, and Cori Caulfield will make a rare public performance in a solo dance with the orchestra.
Thank you again for your support of Bohart. I really hope that you will join me and Kris for Beyond Category: The Music of Duke Ellington.
Yours,
Greg
