If you're new to this whole "Nutrition" thing and are confused about where to start, this guide will help get you moving in the right direction...
STEP #1 - Let's start by eliminating nutritional deficiencies!
You might not want to hear it at first, but nutrition newbies don't need a major diet overhaul on day one. You don't need to go Paleo, go Keto, eliminate meat, dairy, sugar, etc...
You need to start with fixing your **nutritional deficiencies** (seriously - more than 80 percent of the population has at least one).
Until your nutritional deficiencies are removed, the body simply won't function properly - and that makes building muscle, losing fat, and getting healthier a lot harder...
So, to eliminate deficiencies, your first order of business is to round out the diet with:
* ample vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes
* sufficient healthy fats
Find out which of the nutritional areas are the most challenging for you, and once you correct them, you can start to focus on things like food quality, portion control, calories, etc. But none of that stuff even matters until you have your nutritional deficiencies fixed.
This process is systematic and focuses on maximizing your health as priority # 1, then when we focus on losing fat and building lean muscle afterwards you'll get better results - and more importantly - you'll be able to maintain your results over the long term.
One of the main reasons why people fail to sustain their weight loss when following extreme cutting diets is because they have pre-existing nutritional deficiencies, then when they restrict their diet even more, it makes those deficiencies worse.
It's almost like trying to increase the performance of your car with a turbo, headers, and exhaust - while it's running low on oil, coolant, and fluids - If you don't take care of the basic maintenance first, all the performance upgrades won't matter.
