In order to make things work you're going to have to juggle some
things around in your schedule. You'll have to eliminate doing
certain things that are not the best use of your time. And you may even
have to be more selective in the friends you keep.
You're
probably heard this before, but it's so true...
"You are the average of
the 5 people you spend the most time with."
"Show me your friends and I'll
show you your future."
So if you're not
very proud of your friends and what they are doing, than it maybe time to
consider looking for better people to associate with.
Just
imagine how much different your life would be if you were associating
with people who are supportive of you and your goals, people who pull
you up to a higher level and encourage you to grow as a person. Rather
than hanging out with folks who drag you down, waste your time, and hold
you back from reaching your goals.
Now I
realize that it can sometimes be hard to find people in your personal
life who are positive and encouraging. I struggle with this as well.
But one thing that you can do is
find a coach or mentor who can be that person who pulls you up to a
higher level.
To really optimize your
progress you need someone who can look at your situation from fresh eyes
and give you the guidance, techniques, strategies, and sometimes the much needed "tough love"
that will push you to become the best version of
yourself.
If you study people who are
successful, more often than not, they have a coach. Even
though they "Know What To Do", without a coach they
won't actually do what they know, or at least not to the best of their
ability.
That's why even the top
bodybuilders, athletes, businessmen, etc. work with a coach. And it's not always because they don't know what to do... I mean it's safe to say that "Mr.
Olympia knows how to workout and how to eat right", but yet he still has
a coach to help keep him on track and maximize his potential.
I've
made the mistake of not having a coach in the past, always trying to
figure stuff out on my own. Even though I was able to make some progress
this way, it's the slow way to success. Trying to do everyone alone ultimately wastes your time and you end up unsatisfied with your results.
When
I look back at my own training, the times when I made my best gains,
got in my best condition, or did the best in competition - It was the
times when I was working directly with a coach. The difference that a
good coach can make is like night and day over trying to do everything
on your own.
Even right now I'm working with
several coaches. Not just with my fitness goals, but also business
coaches and consultants who are helping me to take my online business to
the next level. Over the next year you're going to see a more mature
and professional looking "Lee Hayward's Total Fitness Bodybuilding" as I
move into the next phase of my life.
