Life in lockdown has disrupted all our lives... Not just from an employment, financial, and social interaction point of view - but from a health and fitness point of view...

People on social media are joking about the "Quarantine 15" and relating it to the "Freshman 15" as they seek some comic relief to help cope with very serious situation.

But this is no joking matter. Over 42% of the US population is already obese according this report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We already know that obesity is associated with serious health risks like heart disease and diabetes. So as people gain even MORE weight from living in lockdown, it's only going to make the problem worse!

Most people that I know personally have been eating more (especially junk food and snacks), they have been drinking more alcohol, watching more TV, and getting less physical activity.

On top of it all - they're feeling stressed...
Some of the statistics are down right scary...
  • Candy consumption has reported an increase of 266%
  • Bread consumption is up 54%
  • Sales of chips, pretzels, and popcorn are up 47%
  • Alcohol sales are up 55%
70% of the people in the U.S. have cited "stress eating" as the cause of their weight gain. And 21% blamed their weight gain on alcohol.

That's a nasty combination, not just from a health and fitness point of view, but from a mental and emotional point of view...

I mean how do you feel emotionally when you watch your waistline getting bigger? How does that affect your self esteem and confidence?

However, not everyone has been getting fatter during the lockdown...

In fact, several of my personal coaching students have been taking advantage of our current situation to prioritize their health, fitness, and nutrition even more - and as a result they've been seeing some amazing progress!

55 year old Rob, from the Netherlands, lost 20 pounds and 3.5 inches off his waistline in the last 10 weeks!
