There was a study done a while back on Japanese Sumo Wrestlers to
explore the upper limits of "fat free mass" for the human body.

The study compared the amount of lean muscle mass of Sumo Wrestlers, Bodybuilders, and average untrained people.

Guess who has the most lean muscle mass?

...The Sumo Wrestlers!


The study found that Sumo Wrestlers had significantly greater lean muscle mass than the bodybuilders. Who in turn had a greater lean muscle mass than untrained people.

Now before you run off to the All-U-Can-Eat Buffet realize that I'm not encouraging you to pig out and purposely get fat in effort to gain more muscle mass. But there is an important lesson that can be learned from this and applied to your muscle building program...
