Hey Friend,
Intermittent Fasting (I.F.) is one of the hottest topics in health and fitness right now, and it can be a powerful fat loss tool, but it's NOT for everyone...
Intermittent fasting (aka I.F.) is a timed eating strategy where you will go for a period of time without consuming any calories. Alternated with a set time frame when you will consume your calories for the day.
Zero-calorie drinks such as water, black coffee, or tea (without cream or sugar) are usually allowed during the fasting time of the diet.
This will help your body tap into burning stored bodyfat at a greater than normal rate during the fasting hours. It also gives your digestive system a break from constantly breaking down and digesting food.
It takes approximately 12 hours for your body to fully digest food after you've eaten. So by incorporating periods of IF into your diet you can actually give your digestive system a break.
Most Intermittent Fasting Programs will have you go 16 hours without eating and then have an 8 hour eating window. But there are numerous variations of this pattern. It's not that one is right or wrong, better or worse, it's just different ways of doing the same thing.
A lot of people find that once they get used to IF that they can easily go for several hours without eating and not feel uncomfortable or hungry.
Rather than just trying to eat less food per meal, which can often increase your appetite, making you feel hungrier. IF can provide an easier way to restrict your caloric intake to help facilitate fat loss by simply eating fewer meals.
