Well, my body wasn't so quick to agree with me. Those long hours in the gym caused me to break down. Soreness was insane. Recovery was not fast enough.

But what does "Genetics" actually mean and how does it affect muscle growth?
Well, it's actually quite simple. Some guys recover faster than others because they can synthesize more protein.
Muscle tissue breaks down when it's placed under intense demands that it's not accustomed to (i.e. a hard workout), and protein needs to be synthesized to repair it.
This happens with everyone. However, the genetic advantage that some guys have is more of the machinery that is responsible for synthesizing new proteins to heal the muscle cells.
This machinery is called the Nucleus of the cell .
More nuclei, more protein synthesis.
Now does that mean you're doomed to living with sub-par muscle gains for the rest of your life if you have crappy genetics?
