This was used as an off-season workout to help Olympic Weightlifters
gain lean body mass and shed excess bodyfat. It's been said that
weightlifters would often move up an entire weight class after just 12
weeks of following the 10 sets of 10 method of training.
Back in 1996 Charles Poliquin made the German Volume Training a
mainstream workout by publishing it in the magazine – Muscle Media 2000.
Since then it has been used by thousands of bodybuilders, powerlifters,
weightlifters, and athletes across the globe to help gain muscular body
weight.
Over the years there have been countless variations of the German
Volume Training Program… Some are good, some are bad, and everything in
between.
I even posted my own unique variation of the GVT program back in 2012
on the Total Fitness Bodybuilding "Inner Circle" website that used a
style of volume ramping progression to the set and rep pattern.
However, in this workout of the month program we're going to get back to the basics with the more traditional style of German Volume Training.
