Most people resort to eating junk food and "comfort food" to make them feel better. And there is scientific evidence showing that you can actually "Eat To Increase Your Happiness"... But it's not from eating junk food...
The US National Library Of Medicine published a study confirming a correlation between the amount of fruits and vegetables one eats and their level of life satisfaction.
The study involved 12,385 adults and examined their food intake. They found that higher fruit and vegetable consumption was predictive of increased happiness, life satisfaction, and feelings of well-being. And the best part - these changes happen very quickly - it's not something that takes weeks or months to occur.
Those who ate 8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day showed higher life satisfaction compared to those who ate 6 servings. Those who ate 6 servings showed higher life satisfaction than those who ate 4 servings, etc.
And these improvements were significant. The increased sense of well being gained from eating more fruits and vegetables was comparable to the level of increased well being one would experience going from unemployment to employment.
So if you want to feel better, eat better, and you can start today by adding more fruits and veggies to your meals!
