Subject: Do This to Bench Press more weight!

Lee Hayward's Total Fitness Bodybuilding Tips
Hey Friend,

If your goal is to increase your bench press strength you're going to have to focus on improving your lifting technique and using proper form. And in order to do that you need to position yourself properly on the bench.

One thing that most lifters don't even think about is where should you lay on the bench when setting up to un-rack the barbell?

The key to performing a good bench press set is getting the bar off the rack and into position as easily as possible.

Most advanced lifters will use a spotter to give them a "lift off" and help them position the barbell into place. But regardless if you are getting a lift off or not, you still need to position your body in the right position on the bench press.

I recommend when you lay down on the bench that you slide your body up the bench until your eyes are directly under the barbell. This is the ideal position to be in to un-rack the barbell easily and have enough room to clear the uprights.

If you are too far down the bench you'll over stretch yourself and lose your body position trying to get the barbell off the rack. And if you are too high on the bench you'll risk hitting the uprights as you press the weight up. The sweet spot for successfully un-racking the weight and performing a good set of bench presses is to line your eyes up directly under the barbell.
