Although Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is most identifiable through the Gracie family, there is actually another prominent lineage that descends from Mitsuyo Maeda himself… who first taught Carlos Gracie, known to be the founding father of BJJ. Mitsuyo Maeda also had another Brazilian disciple named Luis Franca. So there is an alternate lineage for BJJ!
