Day of Photonics at Faculty of Physics UW 

Lasers, quantum communications, Nobel prize, optical coffee - the event of the University of Warsaw Student Association of Optics and Photonics, Fluence.technology and PPTF was full of attractions. Next to organisers, Łukasiewicz - IMIF, Sygnis and Signify presented themselves. The Technology Dialogue Foundation and Sygnis provided pizza - thank you! More than 20 companies and institutions were present at the Photonics 4 Industry workshop organised by PPTF together with AIUT during Warsaw Industry Week. The topics of the meeting were industry requirements for technology providers, IP protection and funding for technology development.

High power fiber lasers from WAT

The WAT researchers achieved 441 W and 273 W of laser power generated in continuous mode at 2034 nm and 1940 nm wavelengths in two fibre amplifier systems built with all-fibre systems.

Efficient coating for perovskite-based cells

Perovskite-based cells, widely regarded as the successor to the silicon cells currently dominating the market, are currently the subject of in-depth research due to their simple and cheap production process combined with high efficiency. A team of researchers from presented perovskite photovoltaic cells with significantly improved anti-reflection properties.

Supported by national PhotonHubs, the 36 top European technology centres offer information and training, business support, support in raising funding and a wide network of contacts - and above all the opportunity to experiment, test and develop technologies (including scaling up production). PhotonHub also comprehensively supports startups. However, the main part of its offer is high-end technology services, available at a very significant discount thanks to EU funding.


These services are available to all entities in the EU, with a special focus on SMEs. The PPTF is the Polish partner of PHE as the national photonics hub.
