Plasmonic prints from MUT

Plasmonic color is an effect resulting from the interaction of light with microscopic structures on the surface of an object. Plasmonic nanostructures, thousands of times smaller than a hair, create unusual, variable colors, depending on their shape and the position of the light. MUT researchers have developed a new method for high-resolution plasmonic printing. Possible applications include marking, anti-counterfeiting, encryption and personalized jewelry.

New architecture for bidirectional LED

Researchers at the Institute of High Pressure of the Polish Academy of Sciences have demonstrated a bidirectional LED that emits light in both directions of current flow - and not only when it is polarized in the conduction direction, like conventional diodes. This is possible due to the special epitaxial structure of the BD LED, in which the active region is surrounded on both sides by tunnel junctions on the p-type doped side.
