Hi Friend,
Over the past month or so, as people have settled into self-isolation, social distancing, and working from home, the concept of a "new normal" has been floated around.
What exactly is a "new normal"?
In the context of COVID-19, it's about a new way of living, at least for awhile...less contact, more restrictions, new ways of doing business, etc.
To be honest, I'm not a fan of the whole "new normal" conversation. I think it envisions a new way of life that's restrictive, limited, fewer freedoms, and more risks. In reality, we create our own lives, so if that's how we see it going, guess what will show up!
Personally, I don't buy into that vision. How this goes in the long-term is up to us. Ultimately, we get to create how our lives look, so let's create what we want, not what we're told is likely!
The concept of a "new normal", however, is useful in that it calls us to think about what we really want.
As I said, we create our own lives. The same is true of your relationship. You've been having whatever experience you've been having. You can, however, have the relationship you WANT, not just the one you HAVE.
So the million-dollar question is...
What do you want your relationship's new normal to be, and who will create it?
Will you let it run on auto-pilot and just wait to see what you'll get? Will you let your past experience dictate how your future goes? Will you wait...hoping, silently pleading...for your partner to do something before taking action yourself to shift things in the direction you want to see things go?
Or, will YOU create YOUR relationship YOURSELF...right now, in the present, not based on what's happened, but based on what you want?
Seriously, take some time to think about that. Even write down what you want in your relationship (I did this before I met Jason, and guess what? Everything I wrote down, I have in my relationship with Jason! I love it when that happens!)
Need a little help? Well, what if your new normal was...
- Waking up ENERGISED, knowing you are working together with your partner rather than struggling against them?
- Feeling GROUNDED and STABLE?
- Being CALM and AT PEACE?
- Feeling SAFE and FREE FROM JUDGEMENT, knowing your partner has your back?
- Being COMFORTABLE in your own skin.
- Being SELF-ASSURED, knowing, finally, that you're perfect just as you are? You're not "crazy" after all!
- Feeling CONFIDENT that you have the tools and understanding to drive how your relationship goes rather than reacting to what happens?
That sort of relationship is possible. How do I know that? Because it's what I have with Jason, and we're no different than you.
Also, I know that sort of relationship is possible because all of those things ... Energy, Groundedness, Calmness, Safety, Comfort, Self-Assurance, Confidence ... are what graduates told us they got from the "Between Men and Women" Couples Communication Workshop.
Whether that will be your first time in the workshop, or if you're joining us again, you will discover: - Practical skills and tools to get you where you want to go!
- Physiological and Neurological differences between men and women that explain so much of the struggle and misunderstanding couples experience!
- The Gentle power you both have together, and how to access it so you can create something great for your lives and in the world!
