Subject: New mass-building supplement I've been testing...
And it actually works...
Now, before I get into it, if you've been receiving my emails for awhile, you know that I RARELY talk about muscle-building supplements...
For the primary reason that for many of them, the price you pay is not really worth the results you get from them.
Beyond some of the basics like creatine and protein, there are only a few ingredients that I find give you a good bang for your buck in terms of building muscle and improving performance in the gym.
And honestly, I rarely even TEST stuff like this (it's made by a friend of mine and he wanted to know what I thought of it...he's been seeing excellent results with it in other people who have tried it).
The supplement I've been testing is a 4-ingredient combination in a product called "Maxed Out."
It contains
1. Creatine Monohydrate (5 g)
2.
Beta Alanine (2 g)
3. L-Carnitine L-Tartrate: (2g)
4. Betaine Anhydrous: (2g)
These are actual research-proven ingredients that work synergistically to improve your strength, increase your work capacity and support the muscle-buildling process.
Creatine, obviously, is a big one and one you've heard of before.
You can learn more about the research and rationale behind including the other 3 here (starting about 1/4 of the way down the page).
Does It Work?
I've been testing this for the past 3 weeks and I've been very happy with the results.
I take it pre-workout and find that I do feel stronger and have greater work capacity. And even though I've been testing it while doing a cutting phase, it's helped me maintain strength and mass very effectively.
It's important to note that this is a "loading" supplement...meaning that you'll see greater effects as you keep taking it and levels of the ingredients build up in your body.
So in that respect, it's not a classic "pre workout" stimulant-based supplement. I didn't notice any stimulant effects from it at all...just a nice increase in strength and endurance.
Who Is This For?
This is intermediate to advanced trainers looking to get an additional edge in their training. It doesn't directly build muscle but allows you to TRAIN more effectively to elicit a muscle-building response.
In other words, this stuff is not going to sprout muscles on you without effort...it's designed to help you put MORE effort in so that you can build mass.
It's fine for men or women...there aren't any direct testosterone-boosting ingredients on it.
I wouldn't recommend it for anybody who's been training seriously for less than 6 months...you don't need anything like this yet. Focus on getting your training and nutrition down first.
If you HAVE been training seriously for 6 months to a year or more, and you've got your nutrition in good order, this stuff can be of great benefit to you.
Getting those extra reps and putting that extra work can have a big impact on your overall physique development, especially if you've hit a plateau.
Is Maxed Out Worth The Price? Yes, for the right person.
I will tell you up front, this is not a cheap supplement...not super-expensive, though, either.
And if you look at how much the ingredients would cost separately, you will absolutely find a savings.
Going back to what I said about who this is for, if you don't currently have your nutrition in good order, this supplement is not going to fix that. You'd be better off focusing on getting that sorted out first.
If, however, you have your training and nutrition in good shape, this is a supplement that would absolutely be worth taking for a test drive.
If you're already taking creatine, you can set your current creatine aside and just use this stuff (that's what I did) becuase it already has enough creatine in it.
It's also not for the casual gym-goer. If you're serious about your training and looking for an edge to improve your gym performance, this is going to be worth the price for you.
If you're working out for general health, this isn't a supplement I would recommend for you. Focus on nutritional-based stuff like fish oil, greens and magnesium.
Any Downsides?
In terms of the ingredients included, nope. There's nothing in this formula that will have any negative impact on you. These are 4 solid, well-researched ingredients included at effective doses.
The taste of this stuff is delicious (watermelon). No hardship there...and it has NO added sugar, meaning you can take it even if you're on a keto or low-carb diet (which I am...cyclical carb rotation) and it won't have any impact on your blood sugar.
If you're looking for a stimulant kick in the butt pre-workout, this is not it. It's going to take a little bit of time to see the maximum effects from it.
When it does kick in full power, you WILL feel a difference in your training.
