Subject: My favorite plank variation for strong abs...
I don't always do planks...
...but when I do...
I do One-Arm Hammer Planks..
(little creative license there).
This is a very simple plank exercise that is a bit more advanced than the normal version on both arms.
Instead of resting on both forearms, you will rotate your arm 90 degrees and set just ONE forearm on the ground.
Keep your shoulders horizontal (critical) and maintain that position for as long as you can...(it won't be long...this is a TOUGH one).
This one is incredibly effective for targeting the deep muscles of the core (obliques and transverse abdominis).
When you can't hold yourself up on one side, set the other forearm down, then switch to the other.
Hold as long as you can on that side.
I like to switch back and forth a couple of time before finishing the set.
This is a GREAT zero-equipment core exercise you can do ANYWHERE...except maybe airport security.
