What really sets an athlete apart is the ability to make fast, powerful movements in a lateral direction (sideways).
Developing power forward and backward is one thing but moving with power sideways is a gamechanger.
In addition, learning and developing good weight transfers skills in the lateral movement plane is critical.
You need to develop a sense of how to use your bodyweight to move objects (like your opponent, for example) without throwing yourself off balance.
That's where Lateral Kettlebell Swings come in...
This is an excellent exercise for deep core strength as well!
