Subject: How to kill your fat cells...
And yes, this is for real...it has actual science behind it.
Here's how it works...
As I'm sure you know, fat cells are basically little bags of fat.
When you burn fat, you empty out those fat bags.
But those little empty fat bags are still there...waiting (lurking is a better word) for when they need to be filled up again.
And when calories come up above maintenance levels, they easily fill right back up.
Now, fat cells are like any other cell in your body... they eventually die. Unlike most cells, however, they live for a fairly long time (possibly as long as ten years), but they do eventually die.
There IS something you can do to speed that process up.
Cold...
COLD KILLS FAT CELLS
Cold exposure is able to trigger something called “apoptosis” (cell death) which essentially tells your body to “kill” fat cells.
Removing fat cells doesn't protect you from gaining weight again, but it does seem to be able to direct WHERE you gain that weight...
In fact, in a very interesting case study published in 2013, two patients exposed ONE love handle to cold therapy. Five years later, the treated love handle was still visibly smaller than the non treated love handle.
This means something non-exercise, non-nutrition can have a DIRECT impact on the amount of fat cells in a TARGETED area of your body.
That's where it gets interesting...
Losing fat cells, especially through TARGETED killing of fat cells has the potential to permanently smooth out stubborn fat areas like your love handles.
Now you still have to diet to LOSE weight and get rid of fat mass (and empty out those little fat bags), however as a “next step” you may have the ability to alter the number of fat cells you have, WITHOUT diet or exercise.
That’s the topic of Brad Pilon’s new book "Fat Cell Killer", and it’s not just exposure to cold that has the ability to get rid of fat cells. There are other factors that can initiate fat cell apoptosis.
I've read through the entire book and this is really interesting stuff.
Brad has combed through all the research on the topic and put together a simple plan of action you can follow yourself, if you want to give it a shot.
I haven't tested it myself yet...yet :)... but I really want to give it a try soon.
When I started training back when I was 17 years old, I didn't have a whole lot of fat on me, i.e. skinny and ripped to the bone. I went to college and gained 75 lbs (a lot of muscle, but a lot of fat, too).
I'm quite sure that resulted in fat cell hyperplasia (mulitplying of fat cells). Fat cells can only hold so much fat in them before they have to split into MORE fat cells in order to contain the increased fat needing to be stored.
The more fat cells you've got, the harder is to get lean and the easier it is to gain fat back...lots of open fat bags waiting to fill back up.
Bottom line, though, if you want to learn how to kill fat cells, read this.
Brad is the guy who basically started the whole Intermittent Fasting thing with his classic book "Eat Stop Eat" more than a decade ago. He knows what's he's doing and always backs things up with research.
