Subject: How I prepped for a Spartan race...

So this weekend, I competed in two Spartan Races...an 8 mile Super and a 3 mile Sprint.

As you can see, it gets a little muddy (a little).

My preparation was very simple.

In addition to workouts from my Metabolic Monsters program, I did 3 mile runs once a week for 6 weeks.

Those workouts gave me plenty of strength for the obstacles (and the slogging through the muck) and the running once a week was plenty to get some specific training.

Overall was a blast! The only bummer is on mile 7.5 of the 8 mile Super, we were pulled off the course due to severe weather (giant lightning and rain).

The 3 mile today was perfect weather.

Bottom line, if you're training for an event like this, all you need is Metabolic Monsters and a pair of running shoes for some specific running conditioning (some burpee training might not be a bad idea, too).

And have fun! It was a blast!
