Subject: Beat stress by calming your 2nd brain...
We're living in stressful times...more so than ever right now.
I don't need to tell you this twice, I'm sure.
What if there were something simple you could do...beyond meditation...beyond deep breathing...that could help you beat stress and "get your head right."
First off, yes, you DO have a second "brain"...it's in your gut.
While it's a not a "brain" brain, the bacteria that live in your gut can have a TREMENDOUS impact on your mood and on how your "main" brain functions.
I've talked about this concept before with regards to beating sugar cravings...the bacteria in your gut secretes neurotransmitters that can strongly affect how you feel on a daily basis.
For example, an astonishing 95 percent of your body's serotonin (one of your primary "feel good" neurotransmitters) is found in the bowels.
If you feel stressed out all the time, it's not your fault.
Ok, well it is sort of your fault, though you may not even know why.
You see, the foods you eat impact the bacteria in your gut. Some foods cause an increase in that "bad mood" bacteria while some foods help support the "good mood' bacteria.
If you feel stresed out, depressed and unfocused regularly, it could be a result of your food choices...and you may not even realize it.
What can you do about it?
The first (and best) thing you can do is eat better...meaning overall healthier foods, including more feremented, probiotic-rich foods like kim chi, kefir, sauerkraut, unflavored yogurt, that kind of thing.
Over time, your good gut bacteria will crowd out the bad bacteria and help elevate your mood.
There is, however, a faster way.
Mood-Enhancing Probiotics
This is a VERY cool concept.
Basically, if "good" bacteria can help improve your mood, why not shoot those buggers directly into your system so that you don't have to wait around for it to happen on its own.
And it flat-out WORKS.
The product I've been testing is called "Cognibiotics" (from the makers of my favorite digestive enzyme, Mass Zymes).
I've been using these for the better part of 3 weeks now and I have to say, I'm very impressed.
I have to say, before I started taking these, I was VERY skeptical. After all, I already take a high-quality probiotic supplement every day.
What kind of difference could this make when I already have a lot of good bacteria?
I noticed the difference from Day 1.
Now, I'm far from being a morning person...my wife will vouch for that.
On the first day that I took this stuff first thing in the morning, I noticed that the dull brain that I normally have after I get up just evaporated.
I was more alert...I could think more clearly...and I just FELT better.
As I said above, I was very impressed.
As I kept taking the stuff, I kept noticing the difference in mood and alertness.
I can only imagine how much of a difference this would make in somebody who DOESN'T have a lot of good bacteria in their system already.
Then I stopped for a couple of days
I wanted to test to see if I noticed a difference when I didn't take it.
I did.
The first day after stopping, it wasn't a big difference. But after a couple of days off, I noticed that I was getting that morning low mood again.
I went back on it, and boom, it worked again.
So yes, this stuff works.
Now, I'm not going to tell you it's a cure for depression or will reduce your stress to zero... however, what it WILL do is help you mentally deal with stress, stay calm and focus more effectively.
I definitely think this stuff is worth a try, especially if you're finding yourself on overload right now, as many of us are.
