Assistant Curator Isabel Vargas (she/her) is the newest addition to the Belger Arts’ team and is responsible for the planning and execution of exhibitions at the Belger Arts Center and Belger Crane Yard Gallery. New York City-born, Miami-raised, and Kansas City-based, Isabel holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in both Painting and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute. Most recently she was the Exhibitions Director at the Kansas City Artists Coalition from 2021 to 2022. Previously, she was a Block Fellow (2019-2020), Curatorial Intern at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (NAMA) (2017-2019), Curatorial Assistant for the Kansas City Art Institute (2016-2018), and an Andrew W. Mellon Undergraduate Curatorial Fellow at NAMA (2015-2017).
Isabel has curated numerous exhibitions in conjunction with organizations such as the H&R Block Artspace and NAMA. She’s also worked with artworks by distinguished artists such as Sonya Clark, Paul Anthony Smith, Kara Walker, Nicky Noudjoumi, and many others. Welcome to Belger Arts, Isabel! |
