Belger Crane Yard Gallery premieres a multi-media installation, a replica of a suite from Kansas City’s historic Hotel Phillips that served as Peregrine Honig’s studio in early 2015. The exhibition features a new suite of Honig’s prints and paintings created at Hotel Phillips and during a printmaking residency in China. Her work explores themes of privacy, intimacy, and sexuality. A dance suite, choreographed by Jane Gotch, is also televised within the installation.

Artist Biography:
Peregrine Honig was born in San Francisco, CA, and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. Although based in Kansas City, MO, Honig travels extensively, participating in residencies around the world, most recently in China in spring 2015.

Honig’s work is included in a number of permanent collections including the Fogg Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY. In 2010, Honig appeared on season one of Bravo’s artist reality television show, Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. That same year, in collaboration with Landfall Press, she produced Widow, a magazine that explores the relationship between fashion and art. Her work has been the subject of several solo exhibitions and included in group exhibitions across the country.

The Belger Crane Yard Studios art complex is conveniently located between Belger Arts Center, in the Crossroads Arts District, and Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine Jazz District.  This four-building facility, constructed between 1908 and 1918, has become a destination for artists and art lovers. It houses the Belger Crane Yard Gallery, a contemporary art gallery; the Red Star Artist in Residence program; studios for ceramic artists; Asheer Akram Metalworks, a metal workshop; the Lawrence Lithography Workshop, a lithography gallery and workshop; The Random Lab ceramic studios; and Crane Yard Clay, a ceramic equipment and supply business. This exhibition takes place at Belger Crane Yard Gallery. Exhibitions are also scheduled at Belger Arts Center at 2100 Walnut Street.
