POUR: Function + Form An exhibition juried by Linda Arbuckle June 5 – August 15, 2015 Opening Reception, First Friday, June 5, 6-9 PM Awards presentation by Linda Arbuckle, 6:30PM Belger Arts Center, 2100 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO 64108 mbaxley@redstarstudios.org, 816-474-7316Belger Arts Center presents an exhibition of innovative, utilitarian, and sculptural ceramic works by local and national artists. Guest juror Linda Arbuckle selected contemporary pouring vessels from submitted works that represent the skillful marriage of function and form. This exhibition opens on First Friday, June 5, with an opening reception from 6-9PM. The public is invited to the reception and 6:30PM presentation by Linda Arbuckle, where the following awards will be announced: - Best in Show

In conjunction with the exhibition, Arbuckle conducts a two-day, hands-on workshop on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 from 10am to 4pm each day. The workshop is part of the Summer Workshop series that takes place at Belger Crane Yard Studios, located at 2011 Tracy, Kansas City, MO 64108. Juror biography: Ceramic artist Linda Arbuckle is renowned for her majolica-glazed earthenware. Her work has been recognized through an Artist Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Florida Individual Artist Fellowship. Artistic residencies in Wales and the People's Republic of China have provided further balance of Eastern and Western resources in her works. Arbuckle was recently awarded the Excellence in Teaching award at the 2015 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference. She’s presented summer faculty sessions at Penland School, Arrowmont School, Haystack Mountain School, Appalachian Center, Santa Fe Clay, The Odyssey Center, and the Archie Bray Foundation, as well as visiting artist workshops at many art centers and universities across the U.S.
Belger Arts Center has hosted over 70 exhibitions of sculpture, painting, ceramics, textiles, prints, and projected imagery. Since opening to the public in the spring of 2000, over 70,000 visitors have attended exhibitions in the main galleries at 2100 Walnut Street. Belger Crane Yard Studios art complex opened in 2013 and is located within five minutes of Belger Arts Center near Kansas City’s historic Jazz District at 2011 Tracy Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64108.
